Building a Trauma-Informed Academic Community
Join the Center for Teaching and Research Excellence (CTRE) for our bi-annual Faculty Institute Day, a signature event designed to welcome new and returning faculty with meaningful dialogue, practical tools, and community-building. This Faculty Institute Day centers on trauma-informed teaching and inspiring faculty in todays climate, an approach that recognizes the impact of stress, adversity, and lived experience on student learning. By fostering safety, empathy, and resilience, faculty can create environments where all students feel supported, empowered, and able to thrive academically.

Our keynote speaker, CSU's very own Dr. Kimberly Mann, LCSW, presenting: Teaching in this Climate
-We will explore how today’s political, social, and economic climate impacts student well-being and learning. Using principles of healing centered engagement & trauma-informed pedagogy, we will discuss practical strategies to create supportive, inclusive, and resilient learning environments. Faculty will gain tools to recognize stress responses, reduce unintentional harm, and promote student success while maintaining academic rigor.Interactive breakout sessions on how to strengthen teaching, leadership, and instructional practice, research, assessment, and academic support services
